Corrupted Paso Inferior
Corrupted 'Paso Inferior' (Insolito, 2008)
Gifted to me by The Process' brother Abe on the last day of our Japanese tour; records do not come much more cherished than this.
He collected us at the airport, took us to stay in his parents' traditional house in one of Japan's ancient capitals, Nara, drove us relentlessly around Japan and organised some of the best gigs we have ever played, including the ludicrously awesome Massatsu Osaka all dayer. What a true hero and well deserving of the 'Abe, Abe, Abe!' chants we gave him at every opportunity.
Corrupted's debut is a nasty piece of work. Which is ideal if you are a Corrupted fan. Every band that plays this type of hateful sludge, from Fleshpress to Black Shape of Nexus, rip this 1997 classic off. Yet nobody ever manages to properly capture the guttural horror of the backwards sounding vocals.
Passionately anti mainstream, their drummer had to have assurances that we weren't going to print the pictures before he agreed to have his photo taken with us, one sickeningly heavy side, one sombre ambient side, fronted by a vocalist who only 'sings' in Spanish; what's not to like?
Domo Arigato Brother Abe!
Peace
