More Grain

The barley is also nearly ready. It would have been a different world when 80% of the population worked in agriculture, and the harvest was a major event of the year, with so many jobs to do, and such a lot of rituals and traditions associated with it. 

Now we rarely are aware of it, and it's done by one man in a machine in a few days, and one day the grain is just not there anymore.

Hard to imagine setting out into a 40 acre field of grain with a scythe along with ten or twenty others, and knowing it has to come in before the next rain.
