This worked well for Popcorn. She looked out and saw Longshanks and gave a yelp. A., who was helping with the logistics, brought Popcorn outside to have a nose-to-nose greeting with LS. My mom observed the whole thing with the phone to her ear, rather deadpan, but seeming to enjoy the spectacle.
