A pub for horses?
I went for an afternoon ride in the hunt for today's Blip and came across this scene at one of our pubs. It should be a pub for horses as that poor creature looks very sweaty in the saddle and girth areas. I should have stopped as soon as I saw the scene, but cycled past and returned for the snap, by which time all had moved and the pub was no longer behind them.
The Extra is a "low flying" shot, showing the disused railway (curving away on the left) routeing northeast out of the village in the direction of Cambridge. It was part of the Oxford to Cambridge line and there was talk for several years of opening it up again, but no joy. Instead the new East-West railway will be routed further north, via Cambourne and hence to Cambridge North (mooted, I believe).
This photo shows how different features on the ground are useful for navigation when flying very low – this is helicopter height, effectively, but the same sort of feature is useful for fast jets flying at about twice this height.
