I Must Stop...

I must stop lifting loose floorboards to see what's underneath.  It's never anything good.

The wires were expected.  The pipe wasn't.

Now, given there's a perfectly good void under the floor, why on earth would you lay a gas pipe in a nailable position?  Thankfully, it's part of the plethora of gas pipage we had disconnected five years ago.

The sawdust-sandwich underfloor insulation is something we're finding in various places on the ground floor.  Not sure when that technique dates from.
