A visit to an old friend (Bergsetbreen)
The beautiful glacier fed river and now sadly diminished glacier of Bergsetbreen, an outlet glacier of Jostedalsbreen ice cap in Norway.
It is a good 3km hike to this glacier and one I did many times as a post grad student on an undergrad fieldtrip, this time I had my own family with me.
The valley is beautiful, full of wildflowers, trees and rocks and the most spectacular views of snow mountains and gmthe glacier at the end.
We sat by the river a while and just enjoyed the hush of the rushing water.

A lazy morning, drinking tea and reading but we finally got ourselves moving at lunchtime and had a picnic in Krondalen in our way to Bergsetbreen.
The walk, plagued by resistantvlids took a record slow 3 hours to cover a theoretical 3km (!), but to be fair to the family, it only took them an hour to walk back...
I have been planning this trip since my last visit in 2008, so it was actually a special moment to be there with P, S and A.
On our return we acquired charcoal and cooked dinner over an open fire on the levee by the river, complete with marshmallows to finish.
I had a chat with the campsite owner who claimed to have recognised me from all those student visits (possible, I visited at least 4 times).
She was happy that July was getting busy finally- they lost 76% of their bookings due to Corona in May and June.
And so to bed.
Another great day
