Bee Careful!
A bit of a last minute blip as I was in all day and realised I hadn't taken anything and my Sainsbury's delivery was due. Digging the roots out after removing the shrub is proving difficult due to the rock hard soil and stones - more watering this evening to make it easier tomorrow. My fitbit Charge 3 died yesterday and having tried a reboot found on the internet for what seems a common problem, I rang John Lewis as it's covered by a 2 yr guarantee. They told me to ring Fitbit and a new one is now on its way.
Day 130 / Full Day 122 of Lockdown / Day 20 of Step 3 (for my record only)
UK deaths up 53 to 45,554 with new daily cases up by 769. Deaths in India pass 30k with a very worrying no. of daily new cases of 47,193. France declares a significant rise in CV cases with new cases back over 1k a day and some areas in Paris have wastewater testing positive since the end of June. In the PHE COVID-19 epidemiology surveillance summary published today, Blackburn and Luton have joined Leicester as being an 'area of intervention', meaning 'there is divergence from the measures in place in the rest of England because of the significance of the spread, with a detailed action plan in place, and local resources augmented with a national support'. The Public Accounts Committee criticises the Govt for failure to obtain PPE and failing to plan for job losses and school closures.
Wearing of a face covering becomes mandatory tomorrow in England in enclosed public spaces with guidance issued today saying it includes supermarkets, shops (incl if getting take out food), indoor shopping centres, indoor transport hubs (bus & train stations), banks and post offices, with a £100 fine for not doing so. Hundreds more walk-in testing centres are to open across England by the end of Oct, my nearest is currently Norwich, probably a 2 hour round trip. Test & Trace is still not as effective as needed with only 71% of people getting a result within 24 hours. In Leicester only 65% of people were contacted and only 54% in Blackburn with Darwen, with the Guardian reporting only 40% in Luton although overall 80% of people provide contacts and 78% of those are traced. Employment firm Slater & Gordon said a survey of those working from home in lockdown showed 35% of women had experienced at least one sexist workplace demand since March such as being told to 'dress more sexy or provocatively' (27%) or wear more make up or work on their hair (34%). .
