Installation (almost) Complete

Today has certainly been calmer than yesterday. My one day bout with the side effects of the shingles shot is over and I feel fine today and glad that I don't have to worry about shingles anymore. We both had shots ten years ago or so, but that vaccine has now been declared ineffective and replaced by the far more expensive double dose, which of course Medicare doesn't pay for.

I think because of the rabble-rouser-in-chief there will be a lot of reluctance to take the vaccine being developed at 'Warp Speed' by the federal government, Phizer and some German company at a cost of $2 billion. Even if the vaccine proves to be effective people will be afraid to take it, thereby rendering it ineffective.

Ali was here until seven o'clock last night trying to figure out why the refrigerator, the wifi, television and quite a few other things on the 'critical circuit' panel weren't working. We finally told him to go home and get some rest and all would probably become clear in the morning  (most likely at about 2am). What with our vaccine reactions, we were not particularly unhappy about going to bed at 8pm. With no power there was no wifi  phone, television, computer,  hot water, or lights and not much else to do. Ali suggested a game of chess...

Ali's  been here all day trying to figure out what he says is the  'crazy wiring' in our house. "I've never seen anything like that before"...Don't they all say that? I think the problem is that Ali is an engineer, very precise and a logical thinker, and the average electrician  (or plumber, or carpenter) probably isn't. He has solved the main problem but is still trying to figure out why the garage lights won't turn off....

The main picture is of the inverters which switch the power from the mains to the solar storage battery (first extra) via the 'critical circuit' box (second extra). We had to decide what things were critical and the installation was a lot more than just hanging the battery (which weighs a ton) on the wall. Ali has spent a lot of time in our attic, with a mask, in 85º weather connecting the proper wires to the new box. He is quiet, patient and meticulous...all essential to the job he is doing.

I'm sure that is all far more information than anyone needed or even wanted, but considering what a saga it has been ,I felt it needed it to go into the record and I have a feeling it's not over yet.

I have some theories about why the pandemic is revealing all the weaknesses in our perennially underfunded healthcare and education systems and why they are on the verge of collapse, but I'll save that for another day....I'm sure my ideas will come as no surprise to anyone....
