Flower Friday 24_2020 :: FF24_2020 :: Eryngium
AKA Sea Holly.
Flowers come in all shapes and sizes. This Eryngium sp. in my back garden is the newest and tallest of the 3 I have. Standing at over 1M tall it has not yet started to turn the expected steely blue of the other two. Unfortunately, I have no idea what its name is.
The bracts, or leaves, look like petals but the flowers are part of the domed-shaped umbel which gets its name from the Latin for umbrella meaning parasol or sunshade.
I have not visited Blip or other journals much this week. Sorry about that, I can't say when I will get the time for a little while. My mind is totally on other things at the moment.
