Purple Prairie Clover
I love how this clover starts blooming from the bottom, and I love their purple flowers with the flecks of gold at the edges. They aren't at all fussy, are happy in average to dry soils, and are pretty much impervious to heat and drought. When I was growing up, these grew in great abundance in the fields around our house, but now the only place they can be readily found are in the areas where the cities & /or parks have done Prairie Restorations. Very rarely do you see them in developed areas. Bees and butterflies love them, and they grow easily on multiple upright stems, actually making them a great addition to any garden. Thanks to Anni for her FlowerFridays and to Miranda for her WildFlowerWeek. :))
