Olympics

The Opening of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics was due to happen today. I got an email to remind me about it this morning, now delayed until 2021. It made me think back to 2012 and all the excitement about the games and the amazing events I went to in London. I have not got much memorabilia but do have one rain jacket I bought with this logo on it. Last weekend I was meant to go to athletics at what I still refer to as the ‘Olympic’ stadium.

Also on this day in 2016 It was the last day of the Tour de France. I was in Paris that day, an amazing atmosphere. I had finished a London to Paris bike ride, in 4 days, the day before....the most challenging bike ride I have ever done.

- the grandchildren slept pretty well and were not demanding until 6.55am. After breakfast we went to the local playground and they went home about 10.30
- met up with 3 cycling friends in Richmond Park for lunch at cafe there which is now open.
- needed a rest in afternoon so decided to start watching series 3 of The Crown.
