From where I'm sitting

Satisfaction

Have had a very satisfying day today. Nothing dramatic undertaken or accomplished, but all in all very pleasing.

Finally got round to hoovering this morning, which made me feel immeasurably better about the house (even though I did just return all the piles of stuff to their original locations afterwards, I feel better knowing the floor had been hoovered). There need be no cries of domestic goddessness for accomplishing this feat, incidentally - I think it's probably the first time this calendar year I've managed to hoover all of downstairs, which is pretty shocking really.

Helped Little G write his name in the front of his treasured collection of second-hand Puddle Lane books.

Made some appley-datey-crumbly-fruitslice thing, which is disappearing rapidly.

Had a nice walk the long way back through the village after pre-school drop off - picked up a satisfyingly large parcel of books from the post office that we'd missed yesterday. Even more satisfyingly, not all of them were for the children!

Had a lovely afternoon watching Littler G enjoy a rare play date while I caught up with a friend.

Enjoyed reading the books that were for the children with them both - for the first time in a long time we were able to delay the switching on of the telly after our return from pre-school.

The children have eaten their dinner (barring the sprouts, but I always knew they were optimistic!), there has been relatively little shouting (not none - that would be worthy of press releases, not just gentle satisfaction!)

I am probably tempting fate by writing this before bath and bedtime has been accomplished, but right now I'm feeling pretty content.

And the picture? It was the best of the bunch of snaps I took on our walk back through the village. I'll go back another day to try to get a better shot of the random organ pipes in the vicar's back garden that can be seen from the footpath - that is clearly a blip just waiting to be taken.

Besides, there's something about the shape of the church and the trees that I find (to quote my mother) really rather satisfying.
