Meet and Greet

If you are going to walk in the Cheshire countryside, chances are you are going to meet cattle.

We got to the gate, they saw us and all came to say hello. We’re not walking through this lot. Curious youngsters, eventually they got bored and moved off, and we were able to walk through.

Bickley Hall farm is a great place. It’s a working farm (thus the cattle), but managed for wildlife by the Cheshire Wildlife Trust. We first walked the trail a month ago, and it is very different now, The birds have fallen silent, hay meadows have been mown, and the flora has totally changed.

Extras - it’s Friday, so bramble flowers and ripening fruit. A resting dragonfly - the wings are almost invisible. And everywhere wildflowers, which will provide food for all sorts of animals. The broad swathe of blue is I think blue tansy, grown for its essential oils.

The day had started with a hospital visit, J having a routine blood test. She was understandably very nervous, it’s a very public place, but it was all very efficient and safe and went OK. Small steps.
