The Old St Catherine's Church

This ruins of the old chapel are the top of this hill. It was built in 1506-16 but the main body was demolished in the 1880s when it became structurally unsound and unsafe to use. Now only the tower is left.

The present church of St Catherine dates from just 1887 and it can be just seen in the distance to the left of the tower.

I think some tourist have visited this site as the gate to the tower was left open and a cow wandered in. I didn't want to spook it
