between storms

We had rainstorms off and on all afternoon. I finally decided to brave a walk with Laney, and the sun came out and stayed out for the whole long walk! I didn't really want to dawdle over taking photos, so this patch of flowers was my only subject.
In other news, we celebrated my mother-in-law's birthday today with an intimate luncheon at our house, which included a birthday cake that was way too big for the four of us in attendance. While out on the dog walk, a friend from church passed by and since I knew it was her birthday yesterday I invited her to come over later for a glass of wine and a piece of cake. She was so delighted! God's timing is always the best.
