Two Munros in One Day
Ben was asked for a sleepover with Issak his friend so just Cameron that joined us for the ascent of Mayar and Driesh . 1.5 hours drive the latter part coming in to the stunning Glen Cova area. Car Park beside the ranger office was pretty busy but we found a space.
Set off doing it in the anti-clockwise way which ascends up Corrie Fee. The beauty of this takes your breath away. We also heard the sound of an eagle but didn’t see it.
We had our picnic at sitting in boulders at the top of Corrie Fee. To reach the top of the glen there are boulders made into steps and I struggled with my fitness climbing these as you are lifting your legs each time. Had a few stops to rest weary legs. There is a waterfall tumbling over the cliffs which made a lovely sight.
The top was again stunning and got a good pic taken by a fellow walker.
We could see Driesh in the distance so set off. As we neared the summit must came rolling in and it made for a very different picture from the top! Very atmospheric and spooky! The descent path down was against the hill with quite a steep drop into the Glen below but again the views were stunning.
25,553 steps walked and feet quite weary when reached the car park. But, every step was worth it for the incredible scenery through Corrie Fee, the views from the top of Mayar, the creepy feeling of the mist blowing in as we reached the top of Driesh, the descent and views down along a rocky path Through a glen. The whole spectacle of beautiful Glen Clova.
It’s so good to be out in the mountains! We are so lucky with the sheer variety of scenery we have in Scotland . But the mountains are something very special.
