Recovering
There are two long fingers of reserve bushland probing into the very bowels of Blackheath from the Grose Valley to the east. During the great bushfire emergency of last year, sections of both of them caught fire. This portion of bush was one such area which suffered quite badly. Effectively it lies right in the middle of the town although from this angle you can't actually see any houses or built infrastructure. Pretty scary. All things considered, the town was very lucky although most of that good fortune was made for us by hard working firefighters on the ground and air crews above.
Today was wet and foggy and miserable but the wind was largely absent and so conditions might well have been worse. This picture gives some idea of how much recovery has already taken place although there is still a long way to go. As a matter of idle interest, this image is completely SOOC. No post processing of any kind has taken place.
