Coombs ....
.... Woods" A" and I went for a stroll in these woods on this fine Sunday afternoon it has quite a bit of history being part of Coombe Estate and farm , it had records by Richard of Coombe stating there had been a house there from 1221 and in Elizabethan times was known as Broad Coombe.
Coombe Lodge is a grade 2 listed red brick Georgian mansion and was built by 1760 , which in1988 was sold and became a restaurant and bar with a large conservatory and garden for public use .
In the 17th century Coombe House , also a grade 2 listed building was owned by the by the brothers of William Harvey who 1st described the circulation of blood.
The park/ Woods now are owned by Croydon and cared for by them . The stables within the ground has now become a coffee shop and light lunch stop.
However enough rambling that was our afternoon .
Another church zoomed service in the morning made a good start to the day.
Do hope you've all had a good Sunday and stayed safe
Grateful ..... that the sun shone as we strolled this afternoon.
