Day at the Beach

Not quite but it did seem that one of the female Mallards took her ducklings to enjoy the surf on the lake side before taking them back into the marsh. She stood watching over them as they played in the water. See how clean their beaks are?  Like children, that did not last long.  When she called them to follow, they followed her in single file, and within a minute had their beaks deep in the mud. So funny to watch  :)

It was in the low 40's with the humidex today, so I am guessing even ducks need to give their little ones a break. I spotted other families sheltering in some good shade. Clever ducks!
