A rainy day out

Like the rest of the country we had a terrific thunderstorm last night, and when you are in a caravan you notice it all the more! Hammering on the roof, I was awake at 3 watching flashes of lightening and hoping the tents that Mollie, Josh and Henry were sleeping in would hold up! No sound came from them so all was well and we eventually woke at 8.30am.

We drove in to Exeter. It rained. Exeter was underwhelming, but we did find a nice cafe and had a small fried breakfast. Mollie and Josh did lots of shopping, but I am still trying to avoid unnecessary browsing - but it is difficult, as the instinct is to go in to shops. The masks are still off putting though.

We spent most of the day there, and late on found the quay which was nice. Things seem to be opening but not everything. In general I had hoped there would be old bits in Exeter (there are parts of the original city wall) but it was definitely dominated by modern shopping centres, which I think is what people want these days. This shot though, was taken going down some lovely old cobbles towards a big main road and the quay.

Home for a couple of hours reading, then we drove to Teignmouth for fish and chips by the sea (not as good as Mary Janes). It reminded us of Great Yarmouth (but nicer...am I allowed to say that?!) Home for a game of Yahtzee before bed.
