The Birds!

I couldn't decide on a blip to-day but had to go with this kookaburra. From early morning it has been a day all about birds, very noisy crows woke us up and very colourful parakeets played hide and seek with my camera! This kookaburra appeared when I had an early morning walk to a nearby mangrove (so many lovely greens, reflections and interesting shrubs and all with a background cacophony of unseen birds) He had a fish (I think- it looked like a puffer fish but I'm not sure) and he was either trying to work out how to get into it or was having a play for my benefit. I tiptoed forward to get a better look taking photos as I went but i think he got fed up with my softly softly approach and he came up to me with his prize to show off!
Being tropical queensland, the rain came on when I was quite a way from the resort (fortunately I had my camera bag with it's little rain jacket so the camera was dry!) and I got soaked- serious rain but warm! After a delicious but eye wateringly expensive breakfast, we hit the beach for a battle with the huge waves- no swimming, just standing is a challenge! A bit of a sunbathe then back to Brisbane.
