As with the Bon Accord Gardens in Aberdeen there is much debate about what should be done to improve the existing layout. The first set of proposals for changes have been rejected and it seems it is back to square one.

I think you have to be very careful when you start making changes to long established environments- the Euston Arch was knocked down in the name of modernity but the replacement was not at all impressive.

One thing that perhaps should change is the relative heights of Burns and Scott. I had always assumed that Burns stood atop the column only to discover today that it was the other way round. Surely Burns should be on the column. Whoever heard of a Walter Scott Supper!!
