Peacock

Clearing out clumps of nettles in one of the pony paddocks has been put on hold as many plants have large numbers of caterpillars feeding on them. I believe they are the larvae of the colourful peacock butterfly. They should shortly change to a chrysalis before emerging as an adult about two weeks later.
