The Vennbahn way

We cycled up from Troisvierges to the height of the Vennbahn at nine this morning. It's a hefty 10% climb.
The Vennbahn cycle path is one of the longest converted to bicycle path railway lines in Europe which passes through Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg and has a total of, almost completely paved, 125 kilometres.
I remembered it as an easy ride, but we climbed several times from approximately 485 metres to 590 and down again to 91 metres, our hq. The descent however only started after about 85 kilometres. The route is beautiful. Many vistas and beautiful roadsides with lots of wild flowers. The route going downhill became a bit boring. There were fewer vistas, although there were still many wild flowers on the roadsides.
We noticed that there are enough places to buy coffee. We had to provide our name and address details at every coffee break. I hope not to hear about it anymore.

After the 125 kilometres to Aachen we cycled the last 17 home.
The Vennbahn is worth having cycled once, or in our case twice. I don't know if I would like to cycle it from Aachen to Troisvierges, because you have to climb quite a bit.
