Potatoes and the Fox.

What a day we had....headed off around 11 am towards an area where we thought we could ride our bikes out by the ocean! well that didn't work cos the park we choose was a Parks Canada park, which meant they wanted something like $15 for the hour we might spend biking one of the trail. We decided to leave and head up the coast. After a light lunch, we found our way to where the Conferation trail intersects with the country side, free of charge, so we got sorted out and biked about 14 kms. The Conferation trail is about 440 km long and is on the old railway track. very easy going, and rather straight! It was what i had really wanted and needed to do....get out of the car and onto my bike! After that we headed east to the most easterly point of the island. Found a little lighthouse and a fabulous view of the ocean. We set ourselves up with a bit of a beer and some crackers. Quietly enjoying ourselves, we spotted an intruder....a very beautiful little fox...who was very brave and i believe used to being fed. This little female joined us for about 15 minutes as we tossed it some crackers. Very cool to be that close to a wild animal, who was probably very used to humans. So beautiful. I was kicking myself cos all i had was my wide angle lens and i didn't dare make a move to the car for the telephone lens...so in the extra here is our little friend!

It is pretty remote out here...and mostly what you see is field after field of potatoes. PEI is world famous for it's rich red soil and amazing potatoes. We were constantly amazed at the size of area some of the fields of potatoes covered.

heading home, we were in search of a place for dinner. Well, easier said than done. we ended up in a rather weird Chinese place that only did take out, which was actually a blesssing cos it smelled like cat piss!!! we got our take out and headed home!

An eventful day, and a good one. Tomorrow we head back home.
