At the end of the tunnel

is a gate.

The proverbial light at the end of the proverbial tunnel is not always an end to the darkness. 
Or an access into the light.
There may be obstacles to overcome or barriers to climb over.
It may even be that the cool humidity of the darkness is more embracing than the stark heat of the light.
