All Quiet at the Pond

Dear Diary,

I visited the pond for a moment and it was so calm and quiet.  Even the dragonflies were absent.  It was hot but the humidity wasn't too bad so it was just bearable.  There is only one house on the pond and they put in this fancy dock recently.  I thought it was a lovely spot to sit.  I sit on a rock opposite but we both have the same view.  I couldn't help but think of Henry David Thoreau at that moment, "I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion."
