Make an orderly exit...
A long and at times both rewarding and frustrating day working on the Hut today. I've put the first two corner pieces on, they give it a really good crisp aesthetic - especially as my last minute change on the screw detailing has really paid off. Good to know ocd attention to detail has its rewards.
I'm now on the 'back' wall. No openings but 20ft long by 8ft high. Coincidentally fantastic - the larch comes in just over 17ft lengths which need dressing, so becomes about 16& 1/2. This is turn (theoretically) means that I can clad the back in one 16ft and one four ft length, meaning negligible wastage. However wood doesn't grow straight in 3D, and even machined and planed it has a memory, it wants to curve with the heart wood. So as one end of the cladding comes tight 16ft away the other end invariably pops off. Theoretical fast progress has actually been painfully slow.
Eventually I just needed to call it a day... And te rest of Team IttH fancied a wander across the empty back field to the doggie swimming pool in the beck.
As we neared the gate we thought we could hear thunder... And this herd of curious bullocks crested the small rise very determinedly heading our way. Fortunately we were close enough to win the race, its easy to underestimate how fast young cows can be!
