Abstract Thursday : : Dots

As usually happens this time of year we are overflowing with cherry tomatoes! I puttered around the garden picking Japanese eggplants, cucumbers, zucchini, and Berkeley Tie-Dye tomatoes. I craned my neck at the abundance of green beans growing far above my ability to reach them....The vines have grown to the top of the tallest bamboo pole and are now waving toward the oak tree behind them. Peter came and took down the fort that he and his friend Gavin built in 8th grade in that tree so there isn't even a ladder there anymore....I put a picture in extras of our resident squirrel enjoying the seeds from the giant sunflower that appeared in the garden in the spring.

Somebody on Blipfoto posted a video of an Australian hairdresser giving a beautiful young blonde woman a haircut. I found it strangely mesmerizing and watched  if for an entire hour. It didn't help much with cutting my own hair, but I put it to fairly good use on John's head this morning. His hair is quite a challenge...he has a lot of it, but it is unruly...straight with a lot of cowlicks. I was afraid to do much more than trim around the edges, but did managed to clean him up a little without making him look like I'd put a bowl over his head.

A woman from one of my almost forgotten reformer classes turned up in a zoom class today. She is a hairdresser and offered to come to our house and cut our hair in the backyard. I''m pretty sure John will take her up on it while I continue to think about what to do with my mop....

As I settled down to read the paper this morning...scan would be a better word...my eye fell upon DT's latest suggestion. He has been laying the groundwork for calling the upcoming election fraudulent if he loses by dissing voting by mail as fraud-prone,  and even going so far as to undermine the US Postal Service by cutting its  funds. Today he suggested that the entire election be postponed because, he says,  the very pandemic that he refuses to recognize as real will cause people to vote by mail. A presidential election has never been postponed in the history of the country...not even during the Civil War. Even Mitch McConnell says THAT won't happen.

We have been voting by mail for 15 years. Of course the sociopath-in-chief can't close polling places if there aren't any.  He was never exactly what I would call presidential, but more and more he is looking like a tin pot dictator. You couldn't make it up, but of course HE can, and does....

I went into Walgreens, a place I heartily dislike, to stock up on Band-Aids for my upcoming adventures with the dermatologist. I can never find what I am looking for in this store, there is never anyone around to assist and the check out people are slow, bored and not very friendly. There was tape on the floor marking the 'up' aisles and the 'down' aisles. I assume they were designed to keep people from passing each other face to face, but they also turned the whole place into a sort of incomprehensible maze,  making it impossible to reach certain aisles if one followed the arrows. I fled without Band-Aids, but with a shred of sanity left.

The dermatologist must have stock in Band-Aids. They should really give them to us
