Having previously  posted about the invasive Rosebay Willowherb today's picture is the native Great Willowherb

By all accounts the leaves were widely used during the late 18th and early 19th C to bulk out the (very) expensive tea coming into the country from the far east. Once dried its hard to tell from the 'real' thing.
