Three in a row
What a scorcher today - apparently it is 34C (37C at Heathrow) and it feels much hotter than that. I woke up feeling hot and exhausted, and light headed too. I am sure the heat affects my low blood pressure so I have not done much today. Xena went out with P the dog walker after breakfast, and he was shortening his morning dog walks and has cancelled his afternoon walks as it is just too hot for the dogs.
I went grocery shopping, and saw something unusual. When I got back to my car, there were what looked like a mother and daughter outside the car next to me. They were wearing masks and goggles, which is fair enough as for a long time I have wondered why we have to wear masks but not goggles as the virus can enter through the eyes just as easily as through the nose and mouth (and therefore I always wear glasses when shopping) - they were standing outside their car spraying each other down with I can only presume was cleaning antibacterial spray, all over their bodies and hair and their hands, their hair was wet with it. I don't think antibac spray can be good for your hair and skin. It seemed a bit excessive to me especially when the cases in our area are almost non existent. I believe in being careful but I won't go to those extremes.
I saw these teasels the other day so I could stop off after grocery shopping to get my photo.
More local lockdown measures have been introduced in England due to localised rising cases, and Boris has delayed opening up other indoor places like casinos which were due to open tomorrow. I had to laugh at some of the social distancing rules - in England currently up to 6 people from different households are allowed to meet outside, and people from only 2 households are allowed to meet indoors, up to a maximum of 30 people. I don't know any family/household that consists of 15 people - or have I misunderstood that?
Another now it's another weekend - we were considering driving to one of the local beaches for a walk with Xena on the weekend but have decided to stay away as reports are that beaches like Eastbourne, Brighton, and Bournemouth are crowded and people are not social distancing. I do wonder why people bother wearing a mask getting there and yet are happy to sit right next to somebody else on a crowded beach.
