Coxless Four
Despite the heat this morning, we had a bike ride out to Shapwick Heath, the continuation of Ham Wall Nature Reserve. Most of the birds seemed to be sheltering from the heat of the sun, but these four cygnets seemed to be out for an unchaperoned row downriver, unless they were part of the brood who'd passes us by a few minutes earlier (see extra). They were certainly making calls as if they were a bit concerned and hoping their parents would reply.
We managed about 13 miles in all, stopping to do a bit of shopping for tonight's dinner.
After that, mowing the lawn and adding the gin to yesterday's rhubarb and sugar was all I was good for.
