BOAC.
Down at Poole. Never realised the harbour was used for passenger sea planes. Even had 6 `runways` on the water. You could fly to Gib,Malta, West Africa and Derry Lough for New York. One plane came back from China in May 1946, with a giant panda bear called Miss Unity for London Zoo.
Back in 1960 I remember flying BOAC, from Stanstead to Singapore. Got as far as Bombay, plane broke down. Two wonderful days exploring the city whilst waiting for a replacement.
