Captain Cook

HMS Resolution was the ship Cook sailed on his second major expedition.  On this expedition he was ordered to circumnavigate the globe and look for a supposed southern continent south of the Antarctic circle. 
The ship was launched at Whitby on 1770, initially being named Marquis of Granby and was used as a collier for her first year afloat.  The Royal Navy bought her in 1771 and refitted her to navy specifications. The rest, as they say.....
