Adventure!

After a lightning raid on the market we set off up Leith Walk to catch a number 26 bus out to Prestongrange, where a blip chum was having a socially distanced birthday gathering on a large open patch of grass. Another blipper (lapsed!) joined the small throng. A bit tricky to converse with people at a distance (with traffic noise to contend with) - still, it was a nice event. After a while D and I walked back to Musselburgh beside the sea wall - the tide was in so there were several people fishing. Saw one guy catch a couple of mackerel and add them to a carrier bag that was still thrashing gently with the previous victims. There were lots of birds out on the water - huge numbers of eiders (with a solitary great crested grebe in the middle), a big gang of goosanders, and approx a gazillion swans.

At one point I heard a soft cry coming from the seaward side that didn't sound like a seabird - peeked over and saw these delightful turnstones perched on some rocks.
