Alpines

Today I should've, would’ve been in Zermatt at the end of the Classic Haute Route. Ah well, better luck next year? Meanwhile my alpine strawberries are finally rewarding me (and Happy the phelant, a 1980s Habitat rescue - he loves strawberries). A mystery bird, or even squirrel, though I suspect the magpies, has kept picking and often discarding them before they ripen. So I’ve now installed a range of net, mesh and plastic dome protectors over the plants and hey presto, I have ripe alpines. They are so delicious on cereal, porridge, salads, anything really.
