Sunday sunset
A day spent mostly doing some more of the woodwork in the hall (MrM) and tackling some domestic stuff (me). Eventually, late in the afternoon, we set off for Sidwood in the hope of seeing a red squirrel or two. Somehow, we managed to avoid several heavy downpours en route, but there was a lot of water on the roads in some places! Sunshine and showers (extra) when we first arrived, but it soon cleared up and our rain jackets weren't needed after all. After a picnic tea, we enjoyed a walk through some lovely woodland but, sadly, no squirrels to be seen today. A definite chill in the air as we walked back to the car, and MrM was heard muttering the word "autumnal"...
On the way home, MrM stopped in a lay-by, where we watched the sun setting, and he picked some meadow sweet. (Thought it grew only in damp places, but there's an awful lot of it in the verges this year.) We were amazed at how quickly the sun went down - when we first stopped it was a brilliant orb on the horizon, and less than 5 minutes later it was gone!
