The Big Red

Today, after Church and lunch, we headed out towards Hatta again, this time, armed with my passport! G needed to do a "visa run" i.e. get a new entry visa as she has completed 30 days in the country!

Fortunately no problems at all at any of the check points and it even costs less than the last time she did it in October 2011. Thrilled with how smoothly everything went, we headed back to the City past this place - known to the expat community as The Big Red, its proper name is Al Badayer.

It's where exuberant 4WD owners go to ruin a perfectly beautiful sand dune do a bit of dune bashing. It is quite tall(?) and I have once (in the summer no less) climbed it. Too dangerous now to try doing anything like that especially on a Friday when it really does take a bashing from SUV owners showing off their driving skills.

A 4 1/2 hour, 250km round trip... G is now good for another 40 days. It is always good to be back to what truly feels like er civilisation! :)
