HMS Unicorn

It was the end of our holiday today. We’ve had a great time and the kids have been thoroughly entertained. I think it’s apt to say that my Mum and I are contentedly exhausted and ready for home!

In Dundee, we stayed in the Apex City Hotel, on the quay. It’s been a great hotel experience; all the staff were lovely, the food was great and the hotel itself was just right in bringing a bit of luxurious balance to our holiday.

We couldn’t leave this morning however, without having a look at this wartime battle ship. I was intrigued by the title but obviously, once I got up close to it, the ship’s name became perfectly clear. It’s an incredible feat of mid-twentieth century engineering. We couldn’t go on it because it hasn’t yet re-opened for tourism but looking in, it seemed really very eerie and as though it has lots of stories to tell...

It’s something to bear in mind for our next visit to Dundee to visit our friends (as is the water-ski zip wire in the dock right next to it!)
