The Small Red
The spaniel and I went up to Ashdown Forest for our morning walk. I was hoping to find the Black Darter but instead it was the nationally rare Small Red Damselfly. At 30mm it is the smallest of the damselflies and distinguished from the not so-large "Large Red" by having red eyes, red pterostigma and reddish legs. I had to get in the water to get this one.
