Faced with a forecast of heavy rain from 10.00 onwards, I dashed down to the allotment to water my tomatoes, peppers and cucumber first thing to avoid getting soaked.  That turned out to be a good ploy - it has been raining here ever since.

My tomatoes this year are the variety Alicante, bought as small plants from our local supplier, Cove Nursery.  I have to say I have never grown better.  They are medium to large, wonderfully fleshy and there are masses of them on the plants.  Best of all, they taste great!
