Cockermouth castle

Originally an earth and timber motte and bailey fort built in 1134. It was then rebuilt in stone in the early 13th century...

The castle is now privately owned...it is opened to the public several times a year. ( Ros is one of the Guides. I sometimes help out as tail end Charlie).
