Macroglossum stellatarum
This hummingbird hawk-moth is a frequent visitor of the flowers on our balcony railing and the adjacent summer lilac. For today's Tiny Tuesday I managed to get it in front of my lens. Especially the proboscis (the long tubular mouthpart) impresses me.
Thanks to osuzanna for hosting the challenge.
The extra shows a red kite (milvus milvus), circling above our house. I was actually trying to photograph 13 storks, "sailing" high up in the blue sky, I reckon about 1km high. They circled and circled and seemed to use the thermals to move around without any efforts. But the distance was too big, even for my supertele. Instead I chose the red kite :)
