Detour!

Today we headed to Oban via Appin! What a glorious route. Traffic pressures meant that we couldn’t stop off for the required photo of Castle Stalker so we promised ourselves we would do it on the way back.

We had a lovely wander round Oban. I really had to resist spending an absolute fortune in Sheila Fleet jewellery at the Iona gift shop! While sis bought her friends daughter the cutest kilt ever!
Then it was off for the trip back to Appin. Alas dozy Dora here misses the turn off for the bridge at Connell and so we ended up half way to Inveraray! We were getting a might peckish but hadn’t a clue where we were. We spotted a hotel and restaurant on the side of the road so stopped and headed in for a very fine lunch. To find that we were a mile away from Kilchurn Castle (the blip). Ironically I had been wanting to visit and photograph this for some time but had judged it too far out of our way!!!!! So we made the most of it and went for a midget infested walk to the castle.
Then we turned round and drove back via Appin where we got lots of shots of Castle Stalker too :-)
