Thomas Lord
I visited my mum in her Care Home today and rather than come home on the A3, I chose the prettier Meon Valley route. I stopped at West Meon - an example of a quintessential English village.
It has a pub called The Thomas Lord named after the founder of Lord's Cricket Ground. Lord retired from St John's Wood to West Meon in 1830 and he is buried in the churchyard there.
British spy Guy Burgess also lived in the village and his ashes are spread in the churchyard.
