Pompidou Centre
Today I decided to be cultural as I've lived in Paris for a while and not yet been to a gallery. I saw there was a Dali exhibit on at the Pompidou Centre so thought I'd check it out. When I got there I found out I had to pay ?9 to see it but could go round the rest of the gallery for free so I did that instead.
I'm not a massive fan of Modern Art I'll be honest but I was actually surprised by how much I liked. There was stuff that looked to me like concrete on a wall which I wouldn't really call art and also something which looked like a fluffy version of Mondrian. But then there were some interesting sculptures in the 1960s-present section. I think I preferred the section on 1905-1960 though as it had some paintings I'd studyed at school like Braque in the Cubism section and Dubuffet who I took inspiration from for my GCSE art exam. There were some interesting photographs of Paris in the 1940s as well, mainly by Daniel Masclet who I had never heard of before.
I've also decided I really like Kandinsky so if anyone fancies buying me one that'd be lovely. Oh and I learnt about photogrammes as well, where you get a photograph without using any photographic equipment and instead placing the object against photographic paper and exposing it to light.
These are the sculptures outside the Pompidou Centre and I had a play with Photoshop which is something I rarely do but was feeling vaguely arty.
