Working monkeys

In Thailand (and elsewhere, I’m sure) they use monkeys to go up the palm trees to collect the coconuts. They are more efficient than humans and cheaper. There is a debate at the moment about the ethics of this.

This van had a load of coconuts and 3 monkeys tied to the van.

Is it different than working dogs?
