Sausagemeat pie

When we were children, during the 60's & 70's if we went out for the day as a family, there were no pub lunches or MaccyD's to go to, no, we ALWAYS had a PICNIC ! We never knew what delights would emerge from the picnic basket (yes, we had a proper hamper-style picnic basket !). Mum would put an assortment of foods, savoury and sweet into the basket to be devoured whilst sitting on the only bit of rug your sister hadn't spread out on. To avoid the monotony of sandwiches sometimes Mum brought a sausage meat pie - home made and sometimes still warm. It was a favourite and I can still taste the crumbly pastry and delicious sausage meat concoction that filled that lovely golden case !
