Post cludburst while riding home

An unusual day. Yet again, only one new admission in the morning, and he didn't need the high nursing care and was quickly transferred out. (Enabled the admission of another person, who will benefit from close observation and good nursing so that we can get a diagnosis. Although she wasn't admitted until five hours later.

Organised an early discharge; that process was interrupted to anned a review by a Judge of a patient's application for immediate release from compulsory status. The particular Judge is often difficult to keep on track. Some months ago he spent a long time trying to convince an experienced colleague that he (the Judge) could instruct the psychiatrist how to treat the patient, because the appeal had been made on the grounds of not liking the treatment. The appeal is the way a patient can try to get the Court to order that the patient can cease assessment and treatment and go home.

Today he was taken with the bush lawyer capability of the patient, and clearly wanted to reward him by releasing him. All the sensible things my younger colleague had said were clearly not convincing him. I reminded the Judge that he had been told that he had had a similar episode last year, and recovered in a few days with treatment. Then said that he had twice absconded from the unit, not had medication, and had therefore not improved. With consistent medication for the last three days, he is improving. We can now plan the discharge next week more carefully, as the appeal was declined.

Dealt with a lot of emails, and then saw the new admission, got sidetracked with a colleague and her registrar and ended up leaving a half hour later than Intended. Within a few minutes of starting the ride home, it was beginning to rain. As Istarted out the domain gates onto Park Road. I was nearly blown sideways by the gusts of strong wind, and then the clouds opened.

My blip is an attempt to show me being sodden due to the heavy rain throughout the 15 minute ride.
