Cornish
My blip is our dinner in memory of my gran who died a year ago today. She loved anything unhealthy (ice-cream with clotted cream was a favourite) and was from Cornwall. She had a good long life but dementia took her mind in the final years.
My poem I wrote to read at her funeral.
Memories of Gran
We had a wonderful gran, here are some of my memories.
Sunshine smiles and plaited hair,
always cuddly, without a care,
No coffee or tea,
But water.., said she,
That is the perfect tipple for me,
Fizzy pop and chocolates too,
Ice cream cones topped with cream
Sponge cakes galore,
Cream cakes and sweet things and a whole lot more,
naughty but always nice.
Bingo games, 66 Clickety Click,
89, almost there
Four leaf clover picked and pressed,
given as a gift,
Sure to impress.
Good luck in a pocket,
a piece of coal,
lots of pens,
a rabbits foot,
and a photo of
Willow the lucky black cat,
who always loved to sit on her lap.
Bingo wins galore!
Full house, four corners, a line,
Cash, chocolates, Easter eggs and more.
Top prize holiday to Tunisia,
29, Rise and shine
Camel rides, sunshine, sea and sand galore.
Off traveling all over,
with never a fear,
A visit to Australia the highlight of that year.
Pet and house sitting,
Willing and ready to aid,
Doing the garden
Making a cake,
Doing the ironing – it was always a date.
A perfect crease in my jeans was the end fate.
Always full of fun and up for a laugh,
Silly walking,
Making an echo
Pretending to be drunk as a skunk
Dress tucked in her knickers
It gave mother the jitters.
